Anakata

Anakata is a worldbeat/jazz band based in Athens. We are friends playing & jamming together for almost 13 years now but Anakata it's quite a new thing since we had to get a bit older and wiser to appreciate our own teamwork spirit & talent.
Improvisation over modal harmonies with rythms from all over the world characterizes our live performances. We love the unxpected and the "adrenaline high" caused by risk taking on stage. Our new album ( the second one) contains nine original compositions mixing modal jazz,funk & balkan music elements and is released by Melon Music, a greek independent label. The name of the album "Therapia" (therapy) was recorded live in the studio without any overdubs. The default photo is a sketch by NY based illustrator Yuko Shimitzu (Walrus magazine). The illustration "Big Wave" in the front cover of our new cd "therapia" is also a sketch by her, we are very font of her work ! Our main goal is to promote this work through live concerts not just in Greece but also in Europe at least for the time being.
