Melina Aslanidou born in Stuttgart, Germany the daughter of Greek parents she moved to Greece with her family soon after her birth.Her involvement with Greek music started at very young age when she was still in grammar school and thereafter in high school.At the age 18 she moved to Thessaloniki for studies and there she started singing in student venus..
In 1996 she met Christos Mitrentzis, a leading tradiotional folk musician in Greece with whom she collaborated for several years.Together they also participated in the Woman Festival in Berlin as representatives of the traditional music of Greece.
In 2001 when the group ''Oi Apenantoi'' was formed she joined as their lead singer.Together they released the cd ''To Parelthon Thimithika'' which included the song '' Ti sou kana kai pineis'' which became an instant hit.The particular song which envolved from Greek cinema was originally performed by Poly Panou. Aslanidou not only brought it back to the spotlight, but more importantly her unique interpretation added a very unique flavour making it more popular than the original release.
