George Nikas is no stranger to music. Singer- songwriter, and member of the popular Greek indie band Zebra Tracks, George has toured extensively in the Balkans with the Zebra’s performing at Greece’s Ejekt Festival (2010) supporting Bad Religion and Faith No More, Serbia’s Exit Festival (2010), Macedonia’s Alarm Festival (2010) Croatia’s Urban Fest (2006) and the Athens Open Air Festival alongside the Kaiser Chiefs, Long Blonde and Good Shoes in 2007. That year, acclaimed musician Brian Molko of Placebo was impressed enough to hand-pick the Zebra Tracks to open their Athens show in front of 7,000 people. 2010 sees George Nikas transitioning from band member to solo artist, with the recording of his debut album How to Live in Open Spaces. Musically the album results in a collection of melodic guitar hooks, heartfelt lyrics and an exuberantly painted picture of nostalgia. How to Live in Open Spaces will be available to download on iTunes and Amazon from October 25th through the distribution of Island Def Jam.
