Kostantinou Papaminas Minas

Minas Kostantinou Papaminas was born in Morocco 1n 1933 and grew up in Mesohori Karpathos . He was known as one of the best young lyra players in Karpathos and was considered by many as a miracle child. He played the lyra at a local wedding at the age of 10 all-ways by the side of his mentor Nikolis Reisis who admired him and was himself considered one of the greatest lyra players in Karpathos. Many considered that Minas surpassed his mentor, but he himself never accepted the fact that he was better than his teacher. Like alll Karpathian immigrants he immigrated to Pennsylvania USA where he married Zografinia Panagiotou and had 4 children. Venetia Kaliope Maria and Kostas. He than moved to Washington DC.Minas played in many Karpathian dances, weddings, and KEPA Conventions. Every summer he went to Mesohori where he played the lyra . He played with other musicians such as George Maltas , Manolis Felouzis , Giannis Makris and Giannis Paros.He also played with Minas Prearis Manolis Mpalaskas and many more.
