Fotis Polimeris was born in Patra in 1920. He comes from Kouvalata, Kefalonia and his real name is Fotis Palimeris. In the prewar Athens he was already a famous pop singer, while he had written the music and verses for at least 100 songs up to that time. He made his first LP in 1935. Using the name P. Fotis he kept singing even after the war. Polmeris worked with the most famous Greek singers of the time, like Attic, Gianni Vela and Niko Gounari, but also with Vamvakari, Papaioannou, Payioumzi, Tsitsanis, and Chioti. He collaborated with Rena Vlahopoulou, Maya Melayia and later with Melina Mercury, Taso Livaditi, Gianni Ritso and Costa Varnali. Since the ends of the 60’s and for many years he used to live in USA. Today he lives in Pagrati, Athens and he's got two daughters, Fani and Maria.
In 2004 Ankara Editions published his autobiography titled “Fotis Polimeris, the memories’ procession”. Through its pages the reader follows his life as an artist, but he also learns the history of Greek music in the 20th century.
