Antonis Priftis was born in Athens Greece in 1985. He became involved with folk and traditional music at an early age and he started his lessons of classical guitar at the age of 10. Later in 1999 he attended the musical high school of Pallini and presented guitar recitals in various theaters of Athens. He was chosen from the Royal Symphonic Orchestra of London to participate in a concert given at Athens’s Concert Hall. Theme of the concert was experimental forms influenced by the work of Nikos Scalkotas. In 2003, after his graduation from the musical high school, he began his career playing in various groups (Jazz Med, story of percussions). At the same time he started his musical studies at Phillipos Nakas Conservatory taking courses of Jazz guitar with Giotis Samaras, Jazz Orchestration with Takis Paterelis as well as Jazz Harmony and Jazz Composition. In 2006 he participates in the European Program ‘Comenius Meets’ at Helsinki Pop and Jazz Conservatory where he performs and attends seminars.
