The Story ...so far
Rose of the Wind was founded in 1996 by Yiouli Tsentourou (percussion and voice), Ada Kostourou (guitar and voice) and Yiannis Zigiris (guitars, piano, traditional stringed instruments and voice), who still remain the core members of the group. From time to time they are joined by other musicians, including: Dimitris Kroustallakis, Christos Dalianis, Dimitris Koundourakis, Dimosthenis Katsanis, Yiannis Barbayiannis, Vassilis Liarmakopoulos and Oswald Amirallis. Its influences are from traditional Greek, Balkan and Near-East music, the lighter and purest side of American and British rock, Western harmony and Eastern melody. It is also open to whatever is true in the music of more recent generations. Above all, the band believes that “music is the vehicle that brings to the listener fragments of our soul. It can take us to that mystical landscape where genuine people, who are free of material needs and convention, meet in spirit”.
