Samolis Nektarios

Nektarios Samolis was born in 1970 at the village Aimona in Milopotamos, Rethimnon. His uncle, Mihalis Samolis, who was a great lyrist, was also the reason that Nektarios from his childhood paid attention to the lyre and the Cretan traditional music in general. However, his love for the music did not prevent him from getting his degree from TEI.
After finishing his service at the Greek Armed Forces, he focused his attention on his music and became a professional musician and player of the lyre. To this day, he has given a number of performances in several music halls in Crete as well as in Athens. In 1994, he participated in a festival of traditional music in Avignon, France.
Today, Nektarios Samolis is considered as one of the most important modern musicians that demonstrates enormous creativity and virtuosity with the lyre.
