SMILE (GREECE)
This was a group formed in 1972 by Philip Norton- aged 19(bass guitar-vocals) and Nick Akarepis- aged 18(guitar-vocals). The third member was Mike Mousmoulidis- aged 18 (drums).
They were from the North suburbs of Athens Greece. Their only 45 which was released by 'Philips' by the end of the year in 600 copies, is considered as one of the rarest Greek singles of the decade. " Ki an mikros ti simasia" ("Young but so what") was the title of the B' side and was written by Akarepis-Norton. It received some airplay by the national radio stations but after a week it was cut from the dictatorship government because the lyrics had some ironic reference to weapons... The A' side was titled "Alithies" (Truths) written by Nick. Both songs are contained in the CD compilation "The Greek Rock Scene 1973-75" released by Polygram in 1996.
They disbanded one year later when Philip and Nick joined the Bluebirds. An effort for a reunion of Smile was made in 1976 by recording some demos.
