Arnakia

ARNAKIA (Lamps) as a band was founded from the songwriter, lyrics writer, vocalist and bass player Dimitrios Papatheofilou, guitarist, Spiros Makarounas and Haris Livas on the drums .That was 1985.

Arnakia mainly heard and got influenced by the bands of the time, such as "The Clash""The Ramones" Stranglers" e.t.c. Anyhow this trio only lasted with the same members for some months, playing in the "underground" club of Zoodohou Pigis, Exarheia, Athens . Livas was then replaced by Yannis Kalipetis on the drums.

They rented an old house in Mavromihali ,str,Exarheia, Athens very near the legendary "Pegasus" club. The next year except Dimitrios, Fillipas Papas comes on the guitars and as Kalipetis had to serve in the army was replaced by Dionysis Sifnios. The band moves in Peireus ,Nikaia, and as such they record the songs:"Kammia Efkairia"(No Chance) and "Ola Einai Fantasmata" (There all Ghosts) in a studio in Moshato, Peireus, Greece.

They play for a last time on April 7 1986 with Dimitris moiras on the drums. The very next day Dimitrios has to leave everything behind to serve his military obligation that all male has as duty in Greece. There he meets with the guitarist Xaris Papasideris which after service they reestablish the band. After a few gigs with Kalipetis on the drums it was then when the band establish their own personal sound that we all know.

ARNAKIA then were: Dimitrios Papatheofilou music, lyrics, vocals,bass Xaris Papasideris: quitars, keyboards and Andonis Protonotarios: drums, back vocals, who came in the band after a connection through "Pop+Rock"zine. Together and on their own expenses..!after playing for 2 years as a band ,record in "Peripou" studio, Kypseli, Athens "Sto Stoma Tou Lykou"( In The Wolve's Mouth) LP in 1992.

In the meantime and while preparing to record their 2nd LP "Ergostashio" ( The factory) Andonis Protonotarios dies suddenly due to heart problems. Nevertheless he managed to record his drum sessions and after his death Dimitrios and Xaris record their 2nd LP for "Wipeout Records.gr" in 1992. The same year played a few times live with Spyros Lessis on the drums and Takis Kororos on the acoustic guitar. Then they split....
