Kaliontzidis Mihalis

Michalis Kaliontzidis was born in the village Dipotamos in Kavala, Greece in 1960. Both his parents were from Pontus. His father Christos was from the village Kosma in the region of Matsuka, a region in the Trapezunta province. His mother Anatoli was from Trapezunta, At a young age, his father moved to Constantinople and in 1922 moved to Greece as part of the Exchange of Populations between Greece and Turkey. Christos was an excellent chanter and had an incredible knowledge of Byzantine music.
