Biography
Melina Kana was born in Thessaloniki and studied philology at the Aristotle University.
While she was a student she started singing in small venues.
In 1987 and for four years she appeared at the “Plato” venue in Thessaloniki. She then met the great Greek composer Stavros Kougioumtzis and started to cooperate with him.
In the following years she appeared in many concerts with various remarkable Greek artists, such as Nikos Portokaloglou, Sokratis Malamas, Haris Alexiou, Nikos Xidakis.
In 1991 she released her first album “Mistika Tragoudia” and in 1992 she released her second one with the title “Tis Meras kai tis Nihtas”.
She continued to appear alongside very important Greek artists such as George Dallaras, Dionissis Savvopoulos, and others. She also goes on her first European tour. Meanwhile she takes part in various albums of Greek artists.
In 1995 she recorded her third album “Aromata anti gia Nafthalini” and she toured in the United States with great success. In 1996 she recorded her forth album “Tis Agapis Gerakaris” with the Greek singer – songwriter Thanasis Papakostantinou. She continues to give live concerts, participating in various recordings and touring throughout Greece.
